Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie in Zurich – Reading & conversation, 14/05
The nigerian writer will read excerpts from her latest novel, Americanah. The love story between Ifemelu and Obize starts in Nigeria in the 90s before they have to part ways. Ifemelu goes on study at Princeton while Obinze ends up in London where he lives as an illegal immigrant. After several years, Ifemelu who has become a famous blogger, decides to go back to Lagos, where Obinze now lives with his wife and child.
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was born in 1977 in Nigeria and today lives between Lagos and the USA. She is considered as one of the most formidable voices in African literature. Her novel Purple Hibiscus was nominated for the Booker Prize and Half of a Yellow Sun won the Orange Prize for Fiction in 2007. Americanah won this year’s US National Book Critics Circle award.
