Hi, great blog, Please explain why you say ‘a difficult few days’ in Clichy Sous Bois.
Hi Nygard,
I was in Clichy Sous Bois on the five year anniversary of the deaths of Bouna and Zayed, the two boys whose deaths sparked the widespread 2005 France riots. I took this photograph at the end of a four-day stay in Clichy and found it to be home to an insular and disenfranchised community who wouldn’t talk to me, sometimes aggressively so (but understandable considering the history of misrepresentation by the press).
I write about my time there in my forthcoming travel narrative ‘An Afropean Odyssey’, but hope this explains a little…
Best,
Johny
